Mission & Vision

The Department of Sculpture began training on September 2005 in Bodrum. After passing Transition to Higher Education Exam (YGS),students are admitted  to the department ,which is a-four-year undergraduate program, on the basis of special skills. Along the academic year of time some skills and general information are gained on sculpture and the art of sculpture.
The department has some facilities and venues to fulfil research and development and tutoring the applied and theoretical courses: sculpture practice workshops, (Stone, metal, wood), a modeling workshop, a drawing studio,  a design studio, a terrocotta sculpture workshop and classrooms.
 
General Academic Information
Considering the criteria of contemporary and modern art, it is based on the teachings of classical sculpture. Universal values, experimental and Pioneer studies are welcomed for self acceptance and catch up with the times. Ideas and principal arousing new perspectives and initiatives  are discussed and evaluated. It is created an experienced and an  innovative academic structure having the opportunity for the students to take classes from the other disciplines and departments, getting the advantage of the area and having intimate relationships with the history and the culture of the region.
Purpose
Re-creating a material or an idea as three dimensional and in this period teaching the students the necessary knowledge and technology, producing and carving sculptures from different materials such as metal, Stone and wood,  gaining knowledge of material, gaining experience of manufacturing techniques and methods, increasing competence and skills, building self confidence, connecting a relation with the other forms of expressions of modern art, teaching concepts and theories of art, ensuring to reach creating professional works of art, inspiring culture and art.
Students get the bachelor’s degree after completing the compulsory and elective courses successfully and  gaining adequate credits
